1. Introduction

Welcome to our Privacy Policy page. We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy outlines the types of information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding this information.

1.1 Compliance with Global Privacy Laws

We comply with applicable privacy regulations, including:

  • GDPR (EU): Users in the European Union must explicitly consent to tracking and can withdraw consent at any time.
  • CCPA (California, USA): California users have the right to opt out of data sharing for advertising and request access or deletion of personal information.
  • LGPD (Brazil): Brazilian users must explicitly consent to tracking and can request deletion of their personal data.
  • PIPEDA (Canada): Canadian users must be informed about data collection and have the right to opt out of tracking.
  • PIPL (China): If you are accessing from China, note that **your data may be transferred and stored outside of China, where it is protected under GDPR-level security measures.**

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of personal information from you:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, and authentication provider information collected through LinkedIn, Google, or email/password authentication.
  • Authentication Provider Information: We store information about which authentication methods you've used to manage your login options and account security. This includes maintaining a list of email addresses associated with each authentication provider you've used.
  • Account Setup Information: First login completion status to provide appropriate onboarding experiences.
  • Account Security Information: Email verification status for accounts created with email/password authentication.
  • Subscription Information: Subscription status, tier (Basic/Pro Filter/AI Power), start date, trial usage status, trial start/end dates, feature usage counters (AI bullet analysis, generated bullets, professional summaries, resume analysis, tracked job analysis), and Stripe customer and subscription IDs for billing purposes.
  • Usage Data: Information related to your interactions with our services, including login source (web application or browser extension), to improve functionality and user experience.

2.1 Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website, grouped into these categories:

  • Essential Cookies: Required for login and security, and to remember your cookie choices. These are always on.
  • Analytics (Google Analytics): Counts visits and shows which pages are useful.
  • Session Recordings (Microsoft Clarity): Records interactions such as clicks, scrolls, and mouse movements so we can find and fix confusing pages. It masks text you type into form fields and does not collect payment information. Clarity is not loaded at all until you allow session recordings.
  • Preference Cookies: Stores user preferences such as filters and hidden jobs.

How your choice works depends on where you are:

  • European Union, EEA, United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Brazil: analytics and session recordings are both off until you accept them in the cookie banner.
  • Everywhere else: analytics is on by default and you can turn it off at any time. Session recordings stay off until you accept them.
  • Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out and keep both categories off unless you choose to turn them on.

We estimate your region from your device's time zone and do not look up your IP address for this. If we cannot tell, we use the stricter opt-in rules.

The HideJobs web app (app.hidejobs.com) follows the same regional rules for Google Analytics and does not use session recordings. It links analytics to your account only after you click Accept, in every region. You can change your choice at any time under Account Settings.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the link, also found at the bottom of every page. When you turn a category off, we remove its cookies from our domain and reload the page. We ask for your choice again after 12 months.
