Blogging as a part-time job has recently become very popular in the internet field. Millions of blogs are being created to earn money, promote business, share thoughts and ideas, and provide tips on different topics. During my last year of blogging, I have seen probably hundreds of well-established bloggers on the internet earning money using advertisements and affiliate marketing.
Considering myself an amateur in the blogging sphere, what I would like to highlight is why students should start blogging at an early age.
1. Knowledge
Knowledge is power. Blogging requires lots and lots of knowledge about SEO, blog post optimization, using appropriate meta tags, using proper permalinks, catchy headlines, using ALT tags in your images, social media, and so on. I started my blog late last year. The reason for creating my blog was to provide programming tips. Back then I had a bunch of C programs which I did for my Data Structures & Algorithms paper.
After the semester, I thought why not publish it on the web and see how it looks? Back then I did not know about SEO and things like that. Gradually I learned the things I now know. So, if you start at an early age say 15 or 16, you would be pretty familiar with these stuff before going off to college.
2. Familiarity with Programming
Blogging requires knowledge of some basic codes like HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language ), CSS (Cascading Style Sheet ), Javascript, PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor, for WordPress), and XML ( Extensible Markup Language). Let me remind you that no college degree would teach you these codes. The only thing you are going to learn from a college degree is some basic C, C++, and Java.
But starting early in the blogging world and if you take it seriously, you would become a good programmer in most of these programming languages before you’re out of college and looking for a job.
3. Entrepreneurship student
Suppose you are good at something say web designing or consultancy on a certain topic and you are looking to do some freelance work. You can easily promote your freelance work through a blog across the internet. You can also show your client profiles whom you have already provided service to or have worked for.
If you provide good service more and more clients will be interested in your work and by the time you leave college, you would become an entrepreneur. Having a business mind is very useful in today’s world especially if you want to make it big in life.
4. Student Friendship with Professional Bloggers
Whatever path you choose in life, the support of friends will always be invaluable. The same principle applies to blogging. I recommended reaching out to experienced bloggers or sending them an email before embarking on your blogging journey. Seek their advice on what type of blogg you should create and what would be a good fit for you. Selecting a less competitive niche is key to establishing a successful blog.
For instance, the technology field is highly competitive due to the multitude of exceptional technology blogs already in existence. This is where professional bloggers can offer unique insights that you may never have considered.
As you progress in the blogging world and produce high-quality content, you will encounter new friends who are willing to assist you. Learn from them and their blogs. You will also discover which blog designs align with your chosen niche. Your friends will provide valuable tips on selecting the appropriate products for your blog. By fostering a mutual learning environment, you will easily acquire knowledge from one another.”
5. Understanding of Social Media
By delving into the realm of blogging for about six months or a year, you would embark upon a journey of extraordinary knowledge acquisition. The astounding revelations you would encounter from your blogging endeavors over the past few months are bound to leave you in awe, enabling you to witness the transformative impact firsthand.
Pondering upon this, fascinating insights like the inner workings of Google’s search algorithms, the strategic utilization of social media for business promotion and financial gains, and the remarkable potential to amass substantial earnings through ads and affiliate marketing begin to unfurl before you.
If you find yourself ensnared by the allure of social media addiction, consider seizing the opportunity to utilize it as a means to generate income rather than squandering entire days indulging in frivolous activities like playing Angry Birds on Facebook. While your friends may eventually grow weary of the social media landscape after a year’s time, you have the ability to infuse it with joy, excitement, and productivity, thereby crafting a unique and fulfilling experience for yourself.
6. Having fun student
The most important reason why students should take up blogging is that it’s fun. Let’s face it a student life is pretty stressful (being a student myself) having to deal with exams and projects. Blogging not only provides recreation but it’s also a stress reliever.
It’s a learning experience that will provide you with basic qualities like patience, determination, the habit of doing research (blogging requires a lot ), dealing with failures and successes, and so on. Overall, it’s a life experience that you will be proud of having.
